Solving the Canadian Oil Education Problem

An interactive oil painting installation about the threads tying energy to jobs, healthcare, and a brighter Canadian future.

About this work

The painting describes how the Canadian energy sector creates jobs, supports critical infrastructure like hospitals, prevents energy insecurity, and how Canadian production can lead by example on sustainability. The ropes across the canvas show how energy “ties” into crucial parts of our life. Two hands reach for each other through political polarization. A hospital is reflected in oil derricks. Calgary glows in the top right corner. A falling angel shows what happens when the rope is cut: it is the working class who suffer. Surrounding 3D installations let viewers literally walk into a different perspective on Canadian energy.
